History
Founded by Charlie West and Harry (Bus) Bartlett in 1951, Bartlett & West was a small but entrepreneurial firm. Our early success was tied to land development projects, working on a portion of the Kansas Turnpike. And after designing Kansas' first rural water system in 1956, we were known as pioneers in rural water.
1986 was a pivotal year for Bartlett & West as eight project managers bought the firm from Charlie West and the profit sharing plan was converted into an ESOP, which today still owns 100 percent of our firm's stock.
Since that time, by putting our clients and our communities first, we have expanded our services and grown to a nationally-ranked top engineering firm.
Giving Back
In addition to the substantial support Bartlett & West provides to the arts, education and health and human services organizations, our people volunteer hundreds of hours each year serving on boards and committees, as well as working on individual projects within the community.
Serving others is one of our core values, and volunteerism and giving back to the communities we serve is truly part of Bartlett & West's DNA.
Employee-Ownership
What sets Bartlett & West apart as a 100 percent employee-owned company is that each employee-owner has a stake in the company's success. We directly benefit from that success financially through growth in the company's stock and sharing in the profits.
It's also important to realize that our ESOP is so much more than just a financial benefit. There’s just something different in the air at Bartlett & West. Truly, our employee-ownership culture is an important part of what makes Bartlett & West unique.
