Bartlett & West is recognized for “Safety Beyond ZERO”
Safety is a top priority, whether on a project site, in the office or on the road. Therefore, Bartlett & West was especially honored to receive multiple safety awards from the North Dakota Safety Council (NDSC). Bartlett & West received their Workplace Safety Merit Award, Safety Improvement Award and Safety Management Excellence Award.
The Excellence Award is given to a NDSC member organization that exhibits leadership qualities in safety. The stringent criteria for this award includes that 50% of supervisors have been trained in supervisory safety responsibilities, 90% of non-administrative employees are trained in Hazard Recognition and Reporting, and the company’s Experience Modification Rate is 0.9 or below. Bartlett & West was the only award applicant to meet the Excellent Award criteria this year and it was not awarded the prior year.
In addition, Bartlett & West’s Safety Manager Kelly Gaer was surprised with the Duane Kuehn Outstanding Safety Professional Award. Kelly was instrumental in implementing a forward-looking safety program at the company.
Safety Beyond ZERO
Bartlett & West’s safety campaign, Safety Beyond ZERO, takes a multifaceted approach through ongoing training, communication and innovation. This approach brought the annual injury rate to zero work-related accidents in 2017 and again in 2020, which was significant during a global pandemic. Coming from the Kansas Department of Transportation, Kelly’s commitment and enthusiasm around the Safety Beyond ZERO campaign has yielded tremendous success for Bartlett & West and for the company’s clients.
