Froid Frac Water Supply
Challenge
As the Bakken and Three Forks pipelines progressed in North Dakota and Montana, constraints on the fresh water supply created the need for a truck-loading facility or water depot to transfer bulk water.
Solution
Bartlett & West designed the facility for the City of Froid, Montana, including civil site, pipeline design and survey services. Major components of the proposed facility included a 150,000-gallon storage tank, truck loading facility, water conditioning equipment, backwash water drain field and interconnecting piping.
Value
The Froid water depot provides alternative access to fresh water for oil producers in northeastern Montana.
